It has been a great few weeks of Multi-Sports at Westfield Infant School. It is nice to see the children so engaged with lots of smiles on their faces. The children have been developing their skills and learning new ones. There has been a focus on: catching, throwing, hand-eye coordination, balancing, shooting and aiming.
Parents/Carers were invited to participate in today's session. This also gave the chance for the children to showcase the skills which have been taught. It was great to see so many people turn up to support the children during this session.
This morning we had a very long and exciting assembly. We celebrated 6th and 7th Birthdays until 9th April and Certificates.
We had enjoyed watching a film showing chicks hatching as we came into assembly so we began with singing Spring Chicken.
It was then time for the Bonnet Parade so we sang the Easter bonnet song and after everyone who was wearing an Easter Bonnet joined in the Year Group Easter Bonnet Parade.
Mrs MacLauchlan reminded us about special days like next Sunday which will be Palm Sunday, next Friday which will be Good Friday and the Sunday after which will be Easter Sunday. We sang the song 'We have a King who Rides a Donkey'
All the children were very patient because it was then time for the WISA Easter Raffle. There were some very happy winners. A huge thank you to all the parents/carers and friends of Westfield who donated Easter eggs and other Easter treats for the hampers.
We sang a special song to Mrs Walsh who is leaving today to start a new job and we presented her with some gifts for her.
The assembly ended with everyone singing Yellow Daffodils.
Well done to all the children who made an Easter Bonnet or decorated an egg.
We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 9 April. Happy Easter.
What an egg-cellent evening it was at Easter Bingo! It was great to see so many Westfield family and friends taking part tonight. Thank you to everyone who bought a raffle ticket... don't forget the draw is during Friday 23rd April Easter assembly at 9.10am.
Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone who received an Easter egg, we hope you enjoy them all.
We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow with either a decorated egg or an Easter bonnet for the assembly at 9.10am.
This morning Class 3 showed us how much they had enjoyed reading some books by the author Julia Donaldson. They started with Stickman, who was used to build a snowman, as a bat, as a sword and lastly to help some birds build a nest.
All of Class 3 told us a lovely animal poem called Animal Voices before showing us the story What the Ladybird Heard. We met lots of different farm animals and they sang a song and did a dance.
Next we heard about Tiddler. The fish who is always late for school. Oh dear!
Last of all we heard about Tabby McTat the Buskers Cat. Class 3 sang to us and then the whole school joined in with a school favourite, Spring Chicken.
Well done Class 3. What a wonderful assembly.
What a lovely Easter themed art and craft afternoon we had!
Year 2 were busy sewing bunnies, carefully weaving egg pictures and creating beautifully coloured baskets - all with the hope of a visit from the Easter Bunny next week.
EYFS - We had fun including making Easter chicks, did some Easter maths and enjoyed the outdoors matching Easter egg patterns.
You all worked so hard, a huge thank you to the parents/carers that came.
Today Class 1 met the chicks and they were so well behaved. We all held a chick and talked about the life cycle of the chick. We were very quiet and gentle when holding the chicks.
The chicks will be visiting Class 2, 3 and 7 this week. Look out for more pictures!
This afternoon the chicks came out to meet all the Year 2 Children!
Everyone got the chance to hold a chick and give them a stroke. They felt so soft with all their new, fluffy feathers.
The children loved holding them and were very excited but remembered to be quiet and hold them carefully.
The chicks loved meeting all the children are looking forward to visiting all the reception and year 1 classes next week.
We have some great news!
7 out of 10 eggs have hatched so far and we now how some baby chicks.
They are very happy and have moved to their own little house and they are enjoying their food and water.
The chicks will be visiting all of the classrooms so remember to keep calm and quiet and to wash your hands when you have touched them :) Well done Miss Johnson, you are doing a great job looking after the chicks.
Today we have had an exciting delivery to Westfield and it has been safely delivered to class 10! We now have...
10 EGGS
They are in an incubator keeping warm until they hatch. What do you think will be inside?
The eggs are being looked after by Miss Johnson and Class 10, I hope they are all being very quiet so they hatch out soon.
Keep looking at the school website for more information and the latest updates. It is so exciting!
