  • Book Week 2023

    Tue 28 Feb 2023

What a brilliant build up we have had towards ‘World Book Day’ which is happening....TOMORROW!

Each afternoon this week, all the children have been grouped in mixed aged classes and visited different classrooms to immerse themselves in some of the teachers favourite stories!

The children then completed fun, engaging and exciting activities linked to the books.
The children have impressed all the adults with how fantastically they worked with new friends of all ages and how enthusiastic they have been towards their book activities. You are all certainly enjoying the stories!

Well done Westfield Infants! 📖 📚

  • Healthy School Week - Day 5

    Fri 17 Feb 2023

What a wonderful end to an amazing week!

The whole school assembly was so informative and it was so lovely to see how much learning has taken place this week. Can you see your class' work on the display in the hall?

The learning did not stop there!

In Reception and Year 1 the children had a great time in Ben's Healthy Living Sessions learning how to live an active healthy lifestyle. Please ask them to show you what games they learnt to play.

In Year 2 the children had a visit from a Policeman! It was so interesting to meet him and we had lots of questions to ask him Mr Johnson told us about different roles in the Police Force and the different transports they may use. Some areas Mr Johnson spoke about in detail were safe and trusted people, road safety and stranger danger.

Thank you to all the families who have visited children's classrooms this week, it means a lot to the children. If you haven't had chance yet there is still one day left! Hopefully we will see you tomorrow.

Over the week children have been and will continue to be learning about keeping clean by washing their hands, brushing teeth and dealing with headlice. They will be thinking about staying safe for example when crossing the road and importantly when using the internet. During these fun and active sessions Ben talks about the importance of staying active especially in the holidays when children can’t run around in the playground with their friends. The children learnt some fun active games to play in the holidays. Today Class 7 had their session with Ben. Please ask your children to show you the activities they learnt!

Year 2 had a fantastic session with George Chuter, a professional rugby player who played for England! As well as playing some exciting games of rugby the children learnt about what it takes to lead a healthy life in order to be your best. They learnt that perseverance, determination and a lot of hard work leads to success (both on and off a playing field). We were so impressed by everyone who took part, well done and remember those important messages!

Well done to everyone for a fantastic day!

The children listened and asked fantastic questions, their curiosity was wonderful to see. George then led a practical rugby session in the school hall where children learnt ball control and co-ordination. Year 2 would like to say a huge thank you to George for giving up his time and inspiring the children.
