  • Reception Grandparents Afternoon

    Fri 22 May 2015

This afternoon the Reception children invited their Grandparents into school.

They performed their Farm Assembly, which was fantastic and then their Grandparents went down to the classrooms.

The children loved showing them round the school and telling about all the things there are to do and see. What a fabulous afternoon!

We would be very grateful if any Grandparents could find the time to make a comment on Guestbook about the afternoon. If you are not sure how this works try asking your Grandchild!

  • Reception Classes Farm Assembly

    Thu 21 May 2015

Today Class 1, 2, 3 and the reception children in Class 7 performed their Farm Assembly to the rest of the school and their grown ups.

What a great assembly!  They told us all about what happened at the Farm, showed us some fantastic pictures and sang some great songs.

    Well done to everyone!

  • Year 1 Carnival Day

    Wed 20 May 2015

Today, Year 1 took part in a Carnival Day, it was a very exciting day! We worked in our classes making carnival style bracelets and necklaces. We tried new, exotic fruits.

Children, can you remember some of the names of these or where they were grown?

With Steve, we practiced our circus skills, which included doing the limbo, plate spinning and walking along a tight rope, and learnt a Zumba dance!

Which circus skill was your favourite? Why?

In our classes we talked about carnivals that are held in Brazil and what a happy occasion they are. Finally, we transformed our hall into our very own Westfield Carnival! We wore our jewelry and our special headdresses. We enjoyed dancing to some special carnival songs! We had a fantastic time and learnt lots of new and interesting facts about Carnivals.

Parents, look out for a special invite to our Carnival assembly!

  • Wriggle and Crawl - Year 2 Curriculum Event

    Mon 18 May 2015

Year 2 had a really fun afternoon on Monday with their Curriculum Event all about their latest topic 'Wriggle and Crawl'.  Many parents and carers came to join us for a mini beast quiz where the children could show off their learning.  Then they showed their excellent work in the topic books.  Finally, they shared the mini beasts they had created and put in a natural habitat.

Thank you for attending and we look forward to seeing you at our next exciting event.

  • New Beakers! Thank you WISA

    Fri 15 May 2015

Everyone was very excited today because during assembly Mrs MacLauchlan showed us the new Times Table beakers. Then at lunchtime we were able to use them for the first time.

If you look at the photographs you will see that whilst we are eating and drinking we can also learn our Times Tables!

A big thank you to everyone who has supported the WISA fund raising events because WISA paid for these exciting new beakers.

We are hoping that later in the term we will also be introducing Times Table plates.

  • Nepal Earthquake Assembly

    Fri 08 May 2015

Today we had a whole school assembly and Mrs Leeson explained that we wanted to raise some money to help everyone in Nepal. All the children are taking a letter and an envelope home today and we hope that they will be able to tell the adults at home all about the appeal. On Monday we are hoping that lots of envelopes will come back into school with donations in. Please talk to the children about the assembly and find out what they can remember. For example they might know what could be achieved if 55 children bring a £1.00 into school.

All the staff were very impressed with one of the Reception pupils. She knew about our appeal for Nepal and when her tooth came out she received some money from the Tooth Fairy. It was her own choice to put that money in an envelope and give it to Mrs MacLauchlan for the appeal. What a fantastic example she has set to the rest of us!

Come on Westfield families! Lets see what we can do to make a difference to those people who are suffering so much in Nepal.

The weather was very kind to us and it only started to rain as we headed home.

Thank you to all the children for their brilliant behaviour.  The farmer said that they all behaved beautifully!
