Meet the Letter Box Gang!
A group of 12 Year 1 pupils are taking part in a project called The Letter Box Project. These 12 lucky children will receive a monthly parcel containing books, stationery and games that will help them with their reading and writing.
Each family will also have the opportunity to come to a monthly session with Marion McMillan to share ideas about how to use the lovely resources in the envelope and to make learning FUN!
We hope the whole family will enjoy the parcels over half term. Marion is looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday 6 June in Room 11 as soon as you can after 3.00 p.m.
Today the Reception children invited their Grandparents into school for the afternoon. To start the grandparents were treated to Receptions fantastic farm assembly. Afterwards there were activities in the classroom, on the patio, on the playground and in the trim trail and home made biscuits and coffee in the hall.
What a great afternoon! The children really enjoyed showing their grandparents what they did at school.
Well done to all the Reception Pupils for a fantastic assembly all about your visit to Stonehurst Farm!
It was great to see the photographs of your trip. You obvioulsy had a great time and learnt a lot!
Well done for all your great reading, writing, model making, painting and fabulous singing!
Thank you to the Reception parents/carers for your support in helping to fund the cost of the trip.
This evening we had the opportunity to welcome some of the children who will be joining us at Westfield Infant School in September 2014.
It was a lovely sunny evening and we were delighted that so many families came to see the school and to meet the staff.
Each family had a guided tour given by a member of staff or a govenor. We received a number of positive comments about the grounds and the wonderful facilities we have here.
There was also an opportunity to meet Marion McMillan our Family Learning Tutor and staff from Redmoor Academy who provide our school meals.
A leaflet giving details about What happens next in the process was given to the families who joined us. Don't worry if you were unable to come as we will be sending a leaflet to all families we know about who have a child joining us next academic year.
What an exciting afternoon in beautiful weather!
Pupils and parents were able to experience an afternoon of archery. They took part in learning the key skills in archery using safe and fun equipment. They used their newly developed skills to play fun games such as nearest to the bulls eye and nearest to the flag. There was a healthy competition between pupils and adults, everones maths skills were called upon as they had to add up the points they scored. Well done to all that attended. You tried very hard and were able to learn the 5 main skills in archery;
1. Stance
2. Load
3. Aim
4. Draw
5. Release
A big thank you to Robin Arrows Archery School for such a fun session.
Mr Maksymiw
The children had a great time at the WISA Disco today. We were celebrating the month of May and it was an opportunity for the children to change out of their winter clothes. Everyone looked very colourful and had a great time dancing and playing games.
Thank you to the WISA members who organised the drinks and biscuits and helped to tidy up after the event.
