  • Reception Blunderbus: Lily and the Snow Bear

    Tue 22 Nov 2016

This afternoon the Reception children had the opportunity to watch the exciting Blunderbus performance of Lily and the Snow Bear.

We were all so happy when the Snow Bear was saved by Lily and was reunited with her Mummy. We were not so happy when Mr Bills got captured by Slughorn!!

After the performance our Grownups joined us in our classrooms to complete some fun 'wintery' activities. Thank you to all the Grownups that came to watch the performance and join us in the classrooms; we hope you enjoyed it. Please write a comment on the Guestbook telling us what you though!

  • BLUNDERBUS: Lily and the Snow Bear

    Tue 22 Nov 2016

Year 1 and 2 had the exciting opportunity to watch a Blunderbus production of 'Lily and the Snow Bear' this morning. It was another fantastic performance which engaged and entertained the whole audience, children and adults. Lily's Grandpa had been busy preparing a christmas present for his granddaughter, but can you remember what had been ordered from Amazon?

Due to the problems with the gift, Lily had been left feeling a little lonely so she set off on her own adventure. High in the mountains, Lily spotted clues of someone, or something else nearby. What was the clue in the snow?

After showing the shy snow bear that she was a good friend, Lily and her new friend continued through the tall, snowy mountains. Unfortunately, Lily and the snow bear were not alone. Pike and Slugworth, two fierce hunters, were after a grand catch! They were surprised to find and successfully capture Dougie Raggybottom (Mr James). Can you remember what they wanted to do to him?

Finally, after several attempts to catch the snow bear and Lily, the terrible hunters finally got what they deserved, a frozen bath under the broken ice. Can you remember how Lily stopped the hunters following her over the bridge?

All alone with the snow bear, Lily had no way of getting home. Thankfully, Grandpa had sorted out the balloon problem and floated gracefully over the mountains to be reunited with his granddaughter. Before leaving her new friend, Lily and Grandpa were delighted to see the snow bear's mum appear and take her child back home too.

What was your favourite part? Who was your favourite character? What made you laugh? What made you think?

Year 2 children had the opportunity to ask questions after the show about the performance, characters, puppets and Blunderbus actors.

Thank you to all the adults who were able to join us for the performance and laugh along with the children.

  • Children In Need Assembly

    Fri 18 Nov 2016

During assembly today everyone had a special treat because we were all allowed to bring a teddy or special furry friend to school with us and they joined us for assembly! All the children and grown ups were on best behaviour so that their special friend could see how to follow the Golden Rules at school.

All the children had been invited to make a donation to the Children in Need charity and the School Council collected the class buckets and took them to the office. Staff in the office then had the job of counting the money!

Well done to all the children who have been doing jobs at home to earn some money and other children who have given some of their own pocket money to make a donation.

  • Class 4 Assembly

    Thu 17 Nov 2016

We are supporting Children in Need !

Class 4 based their assembly around Children in Need and emotions. As a class we discussed various emotions and how we deal with these emotions. All the pupils were fantastic at talking about their emotions and suggesting ways off dealing with certain emotions.

At Westfield Infant School we did all we can to support Children in Need including a class assembly, school disco and fundraising on the Friday. It is important to help and support those less fortunate than you and the children at Westfield Infant School really do understand this. A big well done to class 4 and the rest of the school.

Thank you to those parent carers who were able to come into school to see the assembly. A pod cast of the assembly is on the website for those who couldn't make it.

  • Children In Need Disco

    Thu 17 Nov 2016

Tonight, the children had the most wonderful time at the Children In Need disco. It was lovely to see so many children with their Pudsey ears, Pudsey tshirts and Pudsey costumes. The disco dancing and games were enjoyed by everyone and we thank you for supporting this event, helping WISA and Westfield Infant School doing their part for Children In Need.

Remember that you can bring in your named teddy bear tomorrow with your donations.
