The government announced its intention to enable the country to manage Covid-19 like other respiratory illnesses (e.g. flu). As part of this, the legal requirement to self-isolate following a positive test will be removed. However, adults and children who test positive will continue to be advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for a minimum of 5 days. The guidance for staff and pupils in most education and childcare settings to test regularly has also been removed. No further specific guidance for schools has been provided.
