  • Reception Farm Trip

    Tue 16 May 2017

What a fantastic day we have all had at Stonehurst Farm. After a very excitable journey we had snack together and met the farmers. Each farmer then took us around the farm to see all the different animals. Can you tell your grown ups what you did first?

We went on a tractor around the farm; we spotted sheep and their lambs. We got to stroke rabbits and guinea pigs; can you tell your grownups how they felt? We saw lots of animals at the farm including cows, sheep, goats, pigs and piglets; have we missed any out?

We then went on a minibeast hunt which lead to the big hill where we raced to the top.

After lunch we got to play in the park and in the hay.

All of the grownups are very proud of your fantastic behaviour throughout the trip. We hope you enjoy looking through the photos.

Thank you to all the adults to joined us on the trip today.

Today at lunchtime, Year 2 parents/carers were invited to enjoy a delicious roast dinner with their children. With lots of adults able to attend, the kitchen staff worked very hard to ensure everyone enjoyed the tasty chicken roast dinner and pudding. The children loved talking with their adults over lunch and showing how sensible they were, clearing the whole plate of food! Thank you to all those who were able to attend. • Mental Health Awareness Week "Happy Afternoon"

    Thu 11 May 2017

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. During this week there is a national campaign to shed the stigmas surrounding this subject and encourage everyone to think about first aid for mental health just like we would think about first aid for physical injury or illness.

Today everyone at Westfield had a picnic on the field, the weather was amazing! we all sat together, including the adults, and had a fantastic happy lunch time.

After lunch we had a "Happy Afternoon" where we did lots of fun, relaxing and happy activities. We had a circle time and discussed what makes us happy, we completed colouring, played board games, did some gardening, played outside and much more!

Everyone left happy and with a smile on their face, we hope this continues at home and that everyone has a "Happy Evening"

  • Special Visitors to Westfield Infant School

    Wed 03 May 2017

We had some special visitors to school today! Father Dominic has come over from India and is staying in London. He travelled to Leicester with Thayriam a student who received support from the Nevett Fund some years ago and is now studying at a University in London.

Mr Phil Nevett and Mr Andrew Childs also came and they all had lunch with the members of the School Council.

Father Dominic was able to update us all on the progress of the students at St Mathias and told us that Sister Rose wanted him to say 'hello' to everyone.

Over lunch the School Council asked some really sensible questions. One of the things they wanted to know was whether the children are still using all the playground equipment that Mrs Dakin and Mrs Parkes took to India on our last school visit. Father Dominic was able to tell us that the children have great fun with all the outdoor equipment and that the playground is a great improvement for the children.

After lunch the School Council took our visitors on a tour of the school and Thayriam told everyone that he thinks Westfield Infant School is amazing!!

Sadly the visit was soon over as Mr Nevett was driving Father Dominic and Thayriam over to see our friends at Ashfield Academy in Leicester.

Thank you to the School Council for representing Westfield Infant School so well.
