  • Year 2 Day 2

    Fri 29 Jun 2018

What a beautiful morning! Once we had had our breakfast and applied more sun cream for the sunny day, we got into our groups for the adventures that lay ahead! We all enjoyed 3 brilliant activities!

    Activity 1 - The Wharf.

We all walked sensibly down to the Wharf to meet Steve and the crew for the first adventure! The water was so calm and the children were eager to begin. Once in small groups we put on our life jackets - which most of us were able to do independently, and excitedly headed towards the water.

We climbed onto the boats and were given instructions on how to paddle.

The journey along the canal was delightful, with children breaking into song, having banter with children on the other boats and generally smiles beaming from ear to ear!

    Activity 2

Ben joined us for fun packed team games on the playground.  The children were squealing with delight and all enjoyed the competitive games which enabled them to put into practice a variety of skills that Ben has taught them during PE in Year 2. To end the session the children played 'Tug O War' which they all loved!

    Activity 3

The pupils enjoyed lots of activities around the school grounds including Den building, Pond dipping, trim trail, observational drawing and completing the Blind Trail.

We hope you enjoyed the day children, talk to your grown ups about which activity you enjoyed the most!

  • Year 2 Sleepover

    Thu 28 Jun 2018

After the fabulous day at the beach we arrived back at school eager to see where we were sleeping for the night!

WOW! the classrooms in the main corridor were all set up with our bags and beds all ready for us! We were all so excited!

Once we had some fresh air after being on the bus, we were ready for our tea! It was delicious - the sea air had obviously given us an appetite!

After a quick play in the trim trail we had a surprise.......

Pete had set up the huge screen in the hall ready for a film night! We got into our PJ's and settled in the hall to watch 'Fernando', it was brilliant.

Following the film we enjoyed a Hot chocolate treat before heading back to our rooms - the teachers read us bedtime stories and eventually we all slept peacefully.

In the morning we all enjoyed a big breakfast together before beginning the fun packed day ahead.

  • Year 2 Mablethorpe Day Trip

    Thu 28 Jun 2018

What a wonderful day we have had at Mablethorpe. The weather was perfect! Everyone enjoyed themselves so much and made the most of every opportunity!!

We had a fantastic time in the sea; everyone enjoyed splashing each other and getting very wet! We also built sandcastles and collecting shells.

After lunch we got the sand train along the beach to the Seal Sanctuary where we saw the meercats and seals being fed. There were lots of different animals at the sanctuary; can you tell your grownup what you saw?

Well done to all the children today for your fantastic behaviour you should be so proud of yourselves!

  • Year 1 Assembly - Carnival

    Tue 26 Jun 2018

Thank you to all that came along to watch the Year 1 assembly. It was great to see and hear the children talk so enthusiastically about their learning experiences this Summer Term.

As you can see the whole of Year 1 gained a lot from the Wharf Trip and it was the perfect opportunity to develop self discipline, determination and resilience.

Well done to all involved and a huge thank you to Mr Burrows and his team for leading the exciting activities!

  • Summer Fayre

    Fri 22 Jun 2018

We had fantastic weather for the Westfield Summer Fayre this year. It was great to be able to set up outside with the knowledge that there was no sign of rain!

As you can see from the photographs everyone had a wonderful time and it was the perfect opportunity for the whole Westfield Community to join together and have some fun!

A special mention to the Year 2 Country Dancers who performed so well on such a hot evening! You were all fantastic! Thank you to Mrs England who helped them to learn the dances and Mrs Woodley who once again sorted out the costumes.

Thank you to everyone who helped in anyway to make the evening such a success. We will shortly be letting you know how much money WISA has raised.

The next WISA meeting will be on Thursday 5 July when the Summer Fayre will be reviewed and we will start to plan events for next academic year.

  • Recorder Assembly

    Fri 22 Jun 2018

Today the second Recorder Group performed to us in assembly.  They started by playing Be Really Groovy and Mrs Parkes explained that this song is all played using the note B.

The next note they learn is A and they played Two and Twilight and Stripy Cat Crawl to show two songs that use the notes A and B

Mrs Parkes said how much EVERYONE loves playing Hot Cross Buns, but this time they did something quite tricky and half of the group played Hot Cross Buns and the other half played Buns Cross Hot!  Well done - it sounded wonderful.

Finally they finished with playing Swingtime Stroll, which introduced the note G.

    Great recorder playing everyone!

  • Reception Parent/Carer Roast Dinner

    Fri 22 Jun 2018

What a fantastic lunchtime it was today!

Class 1, 2, 3 and EYFS Class 7 had their Parent/Carer Roast Dinner. It was an excellent turnout seeing so many grownups enjoying their meal with their children.

The children were able to show how we line up, collect our lunch and pudding and tidy up after ourselves. They also showed their grownups how sensibly they eat their lunch with a knife and fork.

Well done to all the children for their fantastic behaviour and a big thank you to everyone who joined us.

  • Class 4 Wharf Trip

    Thu 21 Jun 2018

Class 4 had their trip to the Wharf today and it was AMAZING!

All the children showed great enthusiasm and determination when taking part in the very exciting activities. We had a chance to try out bell-boating, canoeing and we even went on a trip along the canal.

The listening and looking skills were great and class 4 really impressed Mr Burrows and the instructors at the Wharf. So much so we decided to have a race across the Wharf in our canoes and bell-boats! All the paddling and effort put in was well worth it as we were rewarded straight after with lunchtime!

Thanks to the beautiful weather we had today we were able to sit in a circle and have our lunch on the grass next to the Wharf. The children loved eating together outside and it wasn't long until they had finished their well deserved lunch!

In the afternoon we put our safety gear back on and headed out onto the canal as a class. It was fantastic travelling up the canal as a  group and putting to test our newly learnt paddling skills.

Who can remember how to 'Park the paddle'?

Who can remember what narrow boats were used for?

What were the rubbing marks on the bridge from?

Please have a look through our photos to see how much fun we have had today.

Thank you so much to all the Class 4 grown ups, we had an unforgettable day and experienced new things!
