As we approach the end of a long and busy term we had a very exciting afternoon today. Thanks to White Penguin Parties we had a FREE party afternoon. It is amazing what an amazing outfit can be made from newspaper and sellotape!
As you can see from the photographs everyone had a great time and to make it even more special the Easter Bunny came into school and left a special surprise for everyone! As we all know you never see the Easter Bunny but he had heard about the Party to celebrate our Outstanding Ofsted Inspection Report and he decided to come today and see what was happening!
He was apparently very impressed that Helen from White Penguin Parties could entertain 280 children in the hall for well over an hour! He was also impressed with the excellent behaviour from the children and he was utterly speechless with the dancing he saw some of the teaching staff doing.
A Big Thank You to Ben from White Penguin Parties for sending Helen along this afternoon
and a Big Thank You to Helen for making our party so special!
Today Year 1 had their Pirate Day! We dressed up as Pirates and did lots of fun activities and we wore our hats that we made in class.
We used very old paper and made our own pirate maps and put a X where the treasure is buried. We even screwed it up to make it look old. We found a treasure map and had to follow it through the trim trail, we went through lots of different places and at the end we found REAL treasure. We looked at a map and had to find the treasure by using the co-ordinates.
After our activities had a pirate picnic at lunch time and then a Pirate Parade to show everyone our customs.
Everyone got the oppourtunity to go outside with Mrs Ratcliffe and Miss Banbury to carry on the Pirate activities.
At the end of the day we had a biscuit and sang some sea shanties.
We have had such a busy day!
Can you tell your grown-ups at home some of the activities that we have done today?
Year 1 have been fantastic today and all of the grown ups are really proud of you! Thank you to the adults at home, you have all made a great effort with the customs and we have all had a brilliant day
Today Year 1 pupils from St Margaret's School in Stoke Golding joined our Year 1 pupils as a chance to get to know each other and share our exciting school.
The St Margaret's pupils enjoyed learning about our PlayPod and playing with the scrap. Our pupils acted as tour guides showing off our wonderful school.
The visit finished with a picnic where pupils ate biscuits they had decorated.
We are looking forward to looking round Stoke Golding and visiting our friends at St Margaret's in June.
