  • Class 5 Trip to the Wharf

    Tue 28 Apr 2015

On Tuesday 28th April, Class 5 went to the Wharf in Hinckley. We met Steve and Mrs Ratcliffe and found out about the exciting day ahead. We worked in groups. With Mrs Rafferty we practised our circus skills which included hula hooping, plate spinning and walking along a tight rope. With Miss Johnson and Mrs Wilson, we explored the environment and learnt about physical and human features around us. Steve and Mrs Ratcliffe took us out on a bell boat where we had to work together to paddle across the lake. We spotted different types of water birds. We had a fantastic time and learnt lots of new and interesting facts about the Wharf and canals from the past.

A special 'thank you' to Steve Burrows and Mrs Ratcliffe for taking us on the water and getting us back to dry land!

  • Year 2 Rockets Trip to Roald Dahl Museum

    Mon 27 Apr 2015

What an incredible treat we had today...  After a very long and entertaining coach journey, we safely arrived at the Roald Dahl Museum.  We were greeted by Ashleigh, Trish and Amy who were our Roald Dahl experts for the day.

All children were immediately wowed by the engaging artwork, 3D models and resources surrounding them.  Every adult was amazed by the responses the children gave to some very challenging questions.  Well done children Roald Dahl would be very proud of your knowledge about himself and the stories he wrote.  We then split into two groups to explore the discovery centre and Roald Dahl gallery.  The children had the opportunity to role play a section of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and loved seeing the foreboding door to Miss Truchballs 'chokey'.  A lot of fun was had travelling in the Great Glass Elevator too.

Following a very special lunch the children were set the task of designing a square for a class quilt to encourage Charlie's grandparents to get out of bed.  The final product was outstanding as was the trip and behaviour.  A massive thank you to Mrs MacLauchlan, Mrs Bailey, Miss Manwaring, Mrs Huddlestone and Mrs Clarke
