  • Donations for the Nursery and St Mathias Primary School, Pondicherry,India

    Sat 13 Jul 2019

Well the end of term has come! I cannot begin to tell you how amazed I am by the total raised for the Nursery and Primary School in Pondicherry. Thank you so much to everyone for your generosity and kindness. Some of you have left messages and cards and I have tried hard to keep track so I can thank you all. In case I have not managed to thank you personally please accept a HUGE THANK YOU from me. I have loved every minute of working at Westfield Infant School. It has been a pleasure to get to know you all. I always enjoy hearing about past pupils and what they are getting up to and I am sure I will be keeping in touch with colleagues and friends from The Westfield Family. I am leaving a Golden School and  if we lived closer I would love my Granddaughter to attend this school. I think that says it all about how highly I regard my colleagues!

Thank You To Everyone! I will make sure you hear all about the developments in Pondicherry.

    Have a lovely Summer!

  • 100% Attendance Award - Reception and Year 1

    Fri 12 Jul 2019

This afternoon we presented the children who had 100% attendance this year in the Reception Classes and Year 1 with an attendance medal and a gift card.  Well done everyone!

As it was Mrs MacLauchlan's final assembly at Westfield Infant School she had a special request! Her very favourite song is Yellow Daffodils so we all sang it with her.

  • Year 2 Leavers Assembly

    Fri 12 Jul 2019

This morning we were joined by parents and carers of Year 2. This was the final assembly at Westfield Infant School for the Year 2 pupils and they made a special entrance and sat on the stage.

We heard memories of their time at Westfield Infant School and they sang their favourite song; When I was One (The Pirate Song).

    It was then time to give out the awards;

100% Attendance for Year 2 pupils

    School Council Awards

    Eco-Warrior Awards

    Junior Librarians

Mrs MacLauchlan then pointed out that all the Year 2 pupils had been helpful carrying out various  tasks around school. We gave them all a big clap!

The Year 2 pupils then sang 'We All Stand Together'. This is a favourite song every year for the Year 2 pupils and they sang it beautifully.

    Before the final song Mrs MacLauchlan share a special message with Year 2;

Of colour and race - you had no choice

In selecting your parents - you had no voice

But the road you take as you go along,

The choice you make between right and wrong,

The words you speak, the deeds you do,

Are decided by nobody else but you.

Mrs MacLauchlan reminded the Year 2 pupils that The Golden Rules are rules for life and encouraged them to follow them.

The assembly ended with Mrs MacLauchlan, Mrs Rafferty, Mrs Clarke and Mrs Woodley leading the children out to 'We're All Going On A Summer Holiday'.

  • Tom the Tale Teller

    Thu 11 Jul 2019

As part of our celebration day each Year Group had a story telling session with Tom the Tale Teller. The children listened very carefully and thoroughly enjoyed the stories Tom told them.

Why not ask your child about the stories to see what they can remember. Tom will be around Hinckley during the summer in his Story Telling Tent. Look out for him and go and say 'Hello to him'.

  • Year 2 Disco

    Thu 11 Jul 2019

All the Year 2 pupils were invited to the Leavers Disco Party. B.J. kept everyone entertained and we all had great fun! Mrs MacLauchlan led us round the school doing the Conga for the last time!

B.J. made some prizes out of balloons!

All the children behaved well and at the end of the Disco sat in their class circle and enjoyed an ice lolly together.

The Year 2 children said they had really enjoyed having a Disco Party with just their year group!

One more day to go at Westfield Infant School Year 2!

  • Governors Whole School Picnic

    Thu 11 Jul 2019

We had a very special lunchtime today when we were joined by Mrs Steele, Chair of Governors and members of the Governing Board. The Catering Staff had made us a very special picnic lunch and we all had one of the lovely cupcakes that had been on display during the assembly this morning.

The weather was perfect for our picnic and as you can see from the photographs everyone had a good time.

Another big Thank You to the Catering Staff for making the very tasty  cakes to make our day of celebrations even more special!

  • Leaving Assembly for Mrs MacLauchlan, Mrs Clarke, Mrs Rafferty and Mrs Woodley

    Thu 11 Jul 2019

Today it was the Staff and Governor Leaving Assembly. We said a big Thank You to Mr Waterhouse who has been a Governor for 13 years. Although leaving the Governing Board he hopes to still be invited back to Westfield Infant School to help on trips and maybe he might be able to fit the odd bit of gardening in!

Mrs Clarke has worked at Westfield Infant School as an LSA and a HLTA for 19 years. Everyone has benefited at some point around school from her lovely smiling face. We wish Mrs Clarke our best wishes and we hope she manages to spend a lot more time at her caravan.

Mrs Rafferty has worked at Westfield Infant School as a teacher for 21 years. In that time she has worked part time, full time, been Head of Year 1, Lead Teacher for English, the teacher for Sparklers and Assistant SENCO!  Mrs Rafferty has developed files for everything and her organisational skills will be missed.

Mrs Woodley has been an LSA at Westfield Infant School for 26 years. All the children have loved sessions in the kiln room with Mrs Woodley and the results have been fantastic. Westfield Infant School also has the most amazing selection of costumes.....all thanks to the hard work and talent of Mrs Woodley.

Before leaving Mrs Woodley has provided the Singing Bears with some new outfits - Thank You.

Mrs Woodley, Mrs Rafferty and Mrs Clarke also presented the school with the very exciting gift of a Food Processor ready for when the new Food Technology Room is ready for use.

  • Language and Culture taster day - 5 July 2019

    Fri 05 Jul 2019

What an exciting day the Year 1 and Year 2 pupils had learning about our wider world.  The whole day was dedicated to each class learning about a different country:

    • Class 4 - Spain
    • Class 5 - Austria
    • Class 6 - Jamaica
    • Class 8 - China
    • Class 9 - Africa
    • Class 10 - Ireland

Each class were treated to a dance workshop in the hall where they had the opportunity to learn a traditional dance.  Back in classrooms flags were made, food tasted, fun facts learnt about the country and its culture and pupils even had the chance to speak the language practising simple phrases.

With all this knowledge and interest we are definitely Global Citizens!
