  • End of year film - Inside Out

    Fri 18 Dec 2015
What an exciting afternoon we had to end the term! Pete set up a huge screen in the hall and everyone went into the hall to see Inside Out! This gave the staff the opportunity to tidy the school and to remove all traces of Christmas!
  • Saying Goodbye - India *UPDATED*

    Fri 18 Dec 2015
The Sisters, teachers and children arranged for a lovely farewell assembly this morning. There were many words of thanks for us to pass on to all at Westfield for the resources we presented on everyones behalf. They are planning how they are going to use the whiteboards, the parachute got a special mention and of course the playground. The children sang some songs and some of the songs they sang were those that Mrs Guest and Miss Hamilton did with them last year. We also did some singing with the children with actions. It was sad to say farewell, we had got to know the children really well. They wished you all a very Happy Christmas.
I can see from the website what a fantastic week you have had and I hope you enjoy your day.
    Merry Christmas☃🎁

  • End of Term Assembly

    Fri 18 Dec 2015

This morning we had another busy assembly. We sang some of our favourite Christmas Songs and included a lot of actions and bells! The prizes were awarded for the Christmas Jumper design and one lucky person also won a wonderful knitted Nativity Scene.

The tradition is for the staff to perform on stage the actions for The 12 Days  of Christmas. This year Mrs MacLauchlan prepared some children in advance to help the staff!

We also had the draw for the WISA Christmas Raffle. Many thanks to everyone who purchased tickets.

Finally Mrs MacLauchlan reminded everyone about the real reason for the season and we sang two songs from our plays; Wriggly Nativity and Let's All Join Hands Together.

Staff and Governors wish all Westfield Families a Very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.

School will reopen for the Spring Term on Tuesday 5 January 2016.

We have had one of our best days today. We spent the morning in the secondary school. We were able to go into all the classes. This even included a class where the girls were taking an exam! We really felt for them and they were trying so hard. We just gave them a lot of encouraging smiles and thumbs up before leaving very quickly.
In all the classes they were revising for exams but were still so pleased to see us. Their welcome was so warm and relaxed. We thoroughly enjoyed being with them and you will see us all giggling away in the pictures.
Next it was time to take some classes. This time for games. Yes, Mr Maksymiw! The children were so excited about all the dance equipment. It wasn't very long at all before they were putting on short performances. We followed this with the parachute and then French Skipping. It was definitely hot work and the mosquitoes were having a good feeding session but still it was a lot of fun.
Just before lunch they very kindly dressed us in a sari. I know you were waiting for that children. I hope you agree from the pictures that we do look good even though I say that myself. Again this caused delight by all the children here too.
We had a very worthwhile afternoon on Education City and the computers with both teachers and children at the Primary School. They absolutely love the activities and are now recognising the characters and especially like Sten.
The evening started by a visit to our hotel from Sister Rose and Sister Rajanami and 6 other Sisters. We also met Shanti in the Secondary school so it was like a school reunion. We are really looking forward to skyping you tomorrow and hoping it will work.
  • Reception Christmas Party

  • Christmas Market

    Thu 17 Dec 2015

Thanks to everyone who attended the Christmas Market, it had such a lovely festive feel to it! Each and every stall looked fantastic with all of the children's hard work! Nearly all of the products sold so we hope you very much enjoy having them at home or giving the wonderful gifts. All of the proceeds will be used to enhance each classroom as the class decide!

    Merry Christmas to you all!

  • India Update - Education City

    Wed 16 Dec 2015
We were greeted excitedly at the Primary School this morning by the teachers. They had the laptops ready in anticipation for us to set up the network. All at Westfield need to be ready to hold their breath because YES Mrs Parkes and Mrs Dakin set up the connection and Internet. Yippee!!!
Sister Rose popped in to say unfortunately she needed to be somewhere else for the day. We spent the next couple of hours with the teachers and then small groups of children working on Education City. I'm not sure who was more excited the teachers or the children but it was very rewarding to see all their faces.
Next we were able to go around the classes. This meant we could actually talk to the children sharing their work with us rather than teaching. They were so proud to show us what they had done in their books.
After that the school had study time and reading time. We took some books outside and read to the children. It didn't take long at all before they were joining in especially with the animal noises.
Before we knew it our auto-ride came to take us to the Secondary School. Today lunch was with Sister Rebecca and Sister Rajani.
This afternoon we met up with Jane who is a friend of Andrew Childs. She supports many schools over a very wide area. We shared our experiences and had many questions to ask her about the work she does in schools. She really loved our pictures and videos and she was amazed at what we were able to bring with us to give to the schools. She is now planning on bringing a parachute over for her schools.
It must have been a very busy day in school with Year 2 singing at the Community Centre and Christmas Dinner AND the Christmas Market.
Take care all and remember the Golden Rules.

  • Christmas Dinner

    Wed 16 Dec 2015

The children enjoyed their Christmas dinner today, which was turkey with all the trimmings and a yummy chocolate brownie for pudding.  This was followed by some Year 2 pupils presenting the catering staff with a well-deserved gift for all their hard to work in ensuring all the children had a scrumptious Christmas dinner.  Thank you!

Well done children for remembering your manners and trying the vegetables. Some children even tried a brussel sprout!

  • Christmas singing at the Community Centre

    Wed 16 Dec 2015

Year 2 pupils made all the teachers feel very proud with their wonderful singing at Westfield Community Centre today. They sang a collection of songs from the Year 1/Year 2 Christmas Play to the Westfield Age Concern group. This was followed by the traditional Jingle Bells and We Wish You A Merry Christmas which everyone was able to join in with. As usual the ladies and gentlemen helped out with jingling the bells! David Roberts from the Community Centre thanked Westfield Infant School for their generous contribution raised during our Harvest Festival to help fund the Christmas Dinner. Well done Year 2
