  • Visit from Father Dominic

    Thu 26 Apr 2018

Today the School Council welcomed Father Dominic back to Westfield Infant School. Father Dominic was visiting a number of schools in Hinckley. He was pleased to meet up with Brumas Bear,  Mrs MacLauchlan and Mrs Leeson again! When they went to India in 2013 it was Father Dominic who showed them round Chennai and looked after them so well.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner and the School Council had the opportunity to answer a lot of questions about Westfield Infant School.

Father Dominic also told Mrs MacLauchlan about a hostel and a school that needs help to provide an education for primary aged children. Look out for further details!

  • Boundary Farm Visit

    Wed 25 Apr 2018

We were lucky enough to visit Boundary Farm again today. We last visited in February so were very interested to see how big the lambs are now. We had a wonderful afternoon and the children were so well behaved and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

We saw the lambs and the ewes in the field as the lambs are old enough to eat grass now. We did see a few lambs that have been hand reared that are still in the barn and we got to stoke one, she was so soft!

We got to stroke the cows and they even licked us! We saw the silage that the cows eat during the winter and we heard how it was produced in the summer when the grass is cut.

We planted pumpkin seeds ready for the autumn and we have brought them back to school to grow! Finally we visited the milking parlour and learnt how the cows are milked and we even got to feel the suction.

We were lucky with the weather which just held off too! Once again Farmer Richard and Rachel were fantastic with the children and provided an exciting and memorable experience.

Today Sarah Saunders (and Lyra) from The Dogs Trust have been to school to share with us how to be safe around dogs.  Sarah and Lyra joined us in assembly and then visited the Sparkler group to talk about how you need to care for a dog.  There will be a leaflet sent home today sharing the information.
