On Thursday the Reception Children has a lovely morning with their grown ups. We leant all about Harvest and joined in with lots of exciting activities. In the classroom we could make our own fruit salad and try some different fruits, make our own fruit bowl by cutting and sticking the fruits and matching them to their name and drawing fruits with coloured pastels. There was even a fruit and vegetable hunt in the Trim Trail! The children all behaved really well and enjoyed showing the grown ups their new classrooms and how much they enjoy school. Have a look at the pictures to see how much fun we all had!

Thank you to all the grown ups that could attend. If you were unable to come there will be lots more opportunities to attend throughout the year.

  • Sister Rose and Sister Rajamani making the most of their last day!

    Sat 03 Oct 2015

After a busy week Sister Rose and Sister Rajamani joined us for Family Learning Morning. They spent time producing some wonderful Colum patterns and then had time to visit all the classrooms and look at the range of activities the children and their families were able to enjoy during the morning.

Mrs MacLauchlan then took the Sisters shopping for some final gifts and souvenirs to take back to India. The first stop was Asda where a large quantity of chocolates were purchased. The next stop was Woodlands Nursery where the Sisters enjoyed looking at and selecting some Christmas decorations and handbags for the Sisters back at home.

It was then time for something to eat and drink. The afternoon went quickly as there were such a lot to see and it was soon time to return to Hinckley and finish the packing. Mrs Fox was shocked by the number of carrier bags the Sisters returned with and she later had to find another suitcase as there was simply not enough room for all the shopping to fit in!

Later in the evening it was time to set off to Birmingham airport where the flight left for Dehli. The connecting flight to Chennai was delayed by one and a half hours but Sister Rose has emailed to let us know they have now arrived back in Pondicherry.

Sister Rose and Sister Rajamani say a big thank you to everyone for making them feel so welcome. They had a wonderful visit and have taken back to India a lot of happy memories and some great ideas they will share with the staff at St Mathias.

  • Family Learning Morning

    Sat 03 Oct 2015

It was great to see so many families joining us this morning for Family Learning Morning! This is an annual event which gives the children an opportunity to bring their family to school on a Saturday.

The events this year followed the theme of healthy living. There were a range of activities to encourage healthy eating, exercise, relaxation and outdoor activities. We also introduced our new Tipi to everyone who came and invited them to make some natural bunting which is now hanging in the Tipi making it an even more exciting place to be!

The morning was made extra special as we were joined by Sister Rose and Sister Rajamani on the last day of their visit.

Those children who came to Family Learning Morning also got the log in details for the e Reading Bug Club.
