• Multi-Sports Parent/Carer Session

  This afternoon, the multi sports children were able to demonstrate all of the skills which they have learned over the past few weeks. Parents and carers were invited to see all of these fantastic skills. 

   

  Problem solving, invasion and hand-eye co-ordination were just a few of the amazing skills which the children were able to perform in front of their adults. 

   

  A massive thank you to Ben for teaching the children these wonderful new skills.

   

  Thank you to all of the parents/carers who came to participate and support the children.

   

  Finally, well done to all of the children for a fantastic session!

  

• Grandparents Afternoon

  What a fantastic afternoon! We showed all the Grandparents what we have learnt about Australia in our assembly. 

   

  We then took them on a tour of Westfield. We went to the Trim Trail to play on the equipment, Sensory Garden to do some gardening and Thinking Garden to read some books. The bikes and hoppers were also out to play with on the playground.

   

  In the hall we enjoyed a drink and a biscuit that some of the Reception children had made with Mrs Moore in Cookery lessons. 

   

  Mr Bills opened up the patio for us to show our Grandparents where we like to learn outside. In the classroom we completed some Australian activities. 

   

  The children were so well behaved and all the Grandparents had a fantastic time!

  

• EYFS Assembly - Australia

  Today we boarded a flight on Westfield Air and Classes 1,2,3 and 7 took us on a trip to Australia.

   

  After the safety talk the flight landed safely and we learnt about some of the wildlife in Australia.  We then listened to some of the postcards that had been written home and on a trip to the Great Barrier Reef saw some pictures of some of the amazing marine animals that live in Australia.

   

  After all this excitement we made a quick stop at Sydney Opera House to listen to a Traditional Aboriginal Tale called Tiddalick the Thirsty Frog.

• Westfield Infant School Royal Picnic and Wedding

  What a fabulous afternoon was had by all at Westfield today to commemorate the forthcoming Royal Wedding! The proceedings started with a spectacular whole school Royal picnic on the field. Children had their very own Royal lunch box to eat their lunch from and kept them in perfect condition ready to take home with a piece of delicious wedding cake (if they hadn’t already eaten it!) The atmosphere was fantastic as the sun shone and then, rather unexpectedly a very important guest appeared…Westfield Infant School was honoured to welcome HRH Queen Elizabeth II to our picnic!

  Can you remember what you had to do to show respect to the Queen when she visited your class circle?

  It was an amazing sight to see children in their very posh clothes either first thing in the morning or when they had the opportunity to get ready after lunch – they were certainly dressed for the occasion – our very own Royal Wedding! The hall temporarily transformed into St. George’s Chapel as the guests poured into their seats. An aisle was left down the middle of the hall ready for the Royal family to arrive and most importantly Meghan Markle. All children were greeted by a familiar, friendly face Rev. Malcolm Clarke.

  Can you remember his special clothes and who he was representing at the wedding?

  With everybody in the right places the congregation stood to welcome the Royal family lead by HRH Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip. Following closely behind was Prince Charles and his wife Camilla – the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and Kate – the Duchess of Cambridge alongside their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and even Prince Louis! A smiley Prince Harry followed ready take up his position in front of our Archbishop of Canterbury and waited…

  The traditional Wedding March signalled the grand arrival of the beautiful bride, Meghan Markle who walked down the aisle with her mother Doria and father Thomas.

  Can you remember how many bridesmaids Meghan had?

  What was the page boy holding on the cushion as he walked down the aisle?

  Rev. Malcolm Clarke did a first class job at explaining the importance of marriage and why people get married. He included the words commitment, love and supporting each other. The bride and the groom were amazing at saying their vows to one another and thankfully no one objected prior to this! The service included hymns, prayers and an amazing choir who beautifully sang Praise my Soul the King of Heaven during the signing of the register. Our Archbishop of Canterbury explained three symbols, one of those was holding hands.

  Do you remember two more of the symbols that Rev. Malcolm Clarke told us about to do with marriage?

  The wedding came to a natural end and Prince Harry and his new wife Meghan walked up the aisle with the biggest grins on their faces, followed by the Royal family and wedding party.

  Photographs commenced in the garden and each class held their own mini reception. What a superb learning experience this was for our children. Thank you to all involved.

  We wish Prince Harry and Meghan very best wished on their special wedding day on Saturday.

• Year 1 Royal Wedding Workshop

  Today we learnt about the Royal Family members and the recent weddings.  We even pretended to be the Royal Family and had a family photo.

  Some of us were knighted by the Queen and we discussed what this meant.

  We learnt how to curtsey and bow and played a game called Queens Steps.

  We learnt all about the upcoming wedding on Saturday and where it is taking place.

• WISA May Day After School Disco

  Wed 09 May 2018

  WISA organised an after school disco that a lot of the children came to. Everyone had a great time, dancing and playing games with their friends. A lot of children had changed into their Disco clothes so the hall looked very colourful.
