  • Year 2 Recorder Club Performance

    Wed 29 Jun 2022

WOW, what a treat we had in assembly today!

Mrs Parkes and the recorder club have been learning how to play the recorder over the last couple of weeks. Today they performed in front of the whole school. The live performance included songs that showed the notes that children had been learning.

Well done children, we thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • WISA Summer Fayre 2022

    Fri 24 Jun 2022

What a FABULOUS two hours we have all had at Westfield Infant School this afternoon. Thank you so much to all of you who turned out to support our Summer Fayre - despite the weather that was forecast. It was absolutely brilliant to see so many of our Westfield families - past and present - come together. We have missed this!

The playground was jam-packed with exciting stalls which included pre-loved games, toys and book; blooming plants and competitions like 'Guess how many sweets are in the jar!' Can you believe how many exciting prizes there were to be won? From buying a raffle ticket for the BIG WIN to discovering which bottle you'd won, there were lots of happy faces to be seen. The staff helping to run stalls were full of smiles and could be seen having just as much fun as you.

There were also plenty of bespoke crafts to order and purchase, not forgetting to mention those yummy treats - thank you for coming to our Summer Fayre and sharing your talent with everyone.

Fun activities including Nerf targets and didi rugby - run by Future School Fitness - proved popular. The face-painting and arm tattoos were a hit too - you all looked wonderful! It was well worth queuing for a turn on the bouncy castle in the hall.

Did you get to meet our special guests - Sonic the Hedgehog and Chase? They certainly enjoyed meeting all of you!

Hot and cold refreshments served as an early tea for some or quick snack for others and many took the opportunity to buy an ice-cream, on what turned out to be a warm Summer's evening.

Thank you for all your support, we really appreciate it. Special thanks to the WISA team for organising such a successful event. We will update you on the amount raised in due course.

  • Year 2 Pirate Day

    Fri 17 Jun 2022

What a fun day today has been!

Everyone looked amazing in their costumes ready for a fun packed piratey day.

    Treasure Hunt

We had to follow a set of clues to find the treasure... can you remember what we found using the clues and what was in the treasure chest?

    Flag Making

We learnt about the different meanings on pirate flags and made our own. Do you remember what the pictures on your flag represent?

    Matching Game

The pirates gave us pictures of pirate related things and we had to match them in pairs. It was a great memory game and good to work as a team.

    Role Play

After recapping the different jobs on a pirate ship we turned Class 8 into a pirate ship and set to work onboard the Jolly Westfield!! It was great to get into character and 'scrub the deck' or 'hoist the sail'. What was your role onboard the ship?

    Maths in a Bottle

11 bottles were hidden around the thinking garden. Each one had a different maths number sentence in it and we had to work out the answers. When we had completed it we were given a 'pirate code'. The code lent us to a message. Can you tell your adults the message?

    Buried Treasure

On the laptops we played a game of phonics buried treasure. Here we had to sort the real words from the nonsense ones. This is a great game you can play on your laptops or tablets at home.

We are all really proud of the behaviour of all children especially on this scorching hot day.
