  • Mablethorpe Assembly

    Mon 29 Jun 2015

Today during assembly we heard all about the Year 2 trip to Mablethorpe. Some of the children shared their work with us and another group shared a fantastic poem.

Everyone received a certificate and some special awards were given out. There will be another chance to see the photographs of the trip at the beginning of the Songs for a Summer Evening at the United Reformed Church on Saturday 4 July at 6.30 p.m.

Well done to the all the Year 2 children. During the two days you showed the staff and your parents/carers how grown up you are and that you are ready to move to Key Stage 2.

  • Year 2 - Wharf Trip

    Fri 26 Jun 2015

Today, the Year 2 day trippers walked down to the Wharf and enjoyed a fantastic day filled with different team building activities.

Activities included a picture hunt around the area, a game of rounders and hoop and team building games. Each group got the opportunity to go on the lake, in both a bell boat and a canoe. All the children enjoyed the experiences and we managed to spot some of the large carp and pike in the lake.

At the end, children who wanted to, jumped into the water! Behaviour was great and the Year 2 children represented Westfield Infant School very well.

  • Mablethorpe Day 2

    Fri 26 Jun 2015

After a late night it was an early start as we had a lot of jobs to do before breakfast! All the beds had to have the linen taken off and neatly folded, cases and bags had to be packed and the rooms left clean and tidy.

When all the jobs had been done it was time for breakfast of orange juice, a choice of cereals and lots of toast and jam!

Some of the staff stayed behind to finish the cleaning and tidying and to load the cases on the coach. We then headed off to the beach and walked towards Mablethorpe until we came to the Lifeboat Station. The staff were pleased to see us and made us very welcome.

We had a look round the station, at the Lifeboats and all the equipment and we also saw a DVD about the fantastic work of the RNLI. We also met the one of the Crew Members and one of the Lifeguards who work on the beach during the summer months.

We then walked back along the beach and had our picnic lunch. There was time for fun on the beach before we headed back to the centre.

As you can see from the photographs we had great fun on the new play equipment that has recently been installed. The two days had whizzed by and in no time it was time to get back on the coach and head back to Hinckley. What an amazing two days we had spent together and what a lot we learnt about so many different things!

  • Mablethorpe - Day 1

    Thu 25 Jun 2015

What an exciting day Year 2 had today! Two coaches left school early in the morning heading for sunny Mablethorpe and it really was sunny when we got there!

After arriving at the Centre we had a quick drink and then we headed for the beach where we had great fun playing in the sand, paddling in the sea and eating our packed lunch. After lunch The Beach Train picked up the first group up and we had a ride all the way along the beach and back again. We went into the sea and we were waving at everyone we saw on the beach! We then went right along the beach in the other direction and got dropped off near the Seal Sanctuary. The train then went to pick the next group up.

We spent a very exciting afternoon at The Seal Sanctuary and saw the seals that each class has adopted. The afternoon went very quickly as there was so much to see. It was then time for the Day Group to return home and the Residential group to walk back along the beach to the centre.

Watch out for the next article with more photographs and information about the Year 2 trips!

  • The NED Show

    Thu 25 Jun 2015

What a fantastic assembly.  We all loved watching the amazing yo-yo tricks and learnt so much from NED.  When he made bad choices he felt sad and when he made the right choice he felt happy and so did others around him.  We learning important messages from NED:

    N - never give up

    E - encourage others

    D - do your best

If we always follow these messages from NED we can all be champions! We  know that we all make mistakes and they are helpful if we learn from them.
