  • Class 4 Assembly - Superheroes

    Thu 31 Jan 2019

Today Class 4 did a fantastic assembly all about superheroes.

They started off by showing us some superheroes that are from fiction and we met Batman, Spiderman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman and lots more. Then they told us some onomatopoeia words like Pow and Crash!  Can you remember any more?

Mrs Parkes then told us all about a very special superhero they have read about called Super Tato.  Some pupils acted out the story.  I'm glad that Super Tato was there to rescue those poor vegetable from the Evil Pea!

Next we met some real life Superheroes, Doctors, Lifeguards, Fire Service and Police Force and heard how their jobs make them superheroes by helping us.

Pupils told us about some of their real life superheroes at home, who look after them and keep them safe.

Finally Class 4 sang a song about Superheroes.  Could you be a superhero?

  • Class 5 Cooking - Family Learning

    Wed 30 Jan 2019

Today Class 5 made a potato and chick pea curry. They used lots of skills such as chopping, cutting and grating. It was delicious and very good for you. Did you know you can actually make rice from

cauliflower ! The children and parents did a great job of washing up...and they had a lot of fun too. The recipe is quick, cheap and easy to make so if you would like to give it a go, the recipe is on the website.

  • Assembly - Presentation to Mr Nevett

    Fri 11 Jan 2019

Today we welcomed Mr Nevett in our Friday assembly. Mrs MacLauchlan showed everyone some photographs she had been sent from the children we sponsor in India who had received their Christmas gifts and one of our school calendars. Mrs MacLauchlan explained that the children we sponsor are in the south of India and we also help to support a school that is in the North.

Mr Nevett told us how the school is in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains (near to Mount Everest) and that the children who attend that school haven't got any of the lovely things that we have at Westfield Infant School. The children help to support their families by breaking big rocks into small rocks to make roads. Our support should help the children to have an education.

The School Council presented Mr Nevett with £500.00 that we raised from our Christmas plays.

Thank you to all the pupils at Westfield Infant School for working so hard on the Christmas plays and to all the parents/carers who have supported them.
