    Thu 26 May 2016

Today all of the children in reception treated the school and their grown-ups to an assembly about their visit to Stonehurst Farm.

They taught us lots of things about the farm by reading out some of their descriptions of the trip, telling us about the animals they saw, showing us some of their amazing paintings and singing some wonderful songs all about animals on the farm.

Well done reception!  What a fantastic assembly!

  • Class 4's home grown radishes!

    Tue 24 May 2016

This year the children in class 4 have been tending to our allocated garden plot with great care. We have planted, watered and looked after radishes! It was finally time to see if our hard work had payed off and pull the radishes up.

With help from Mrs Singleton we were able to wash, cut and eat our very own home grown radishes, well done to all of class 4. The radishes were very tasty.

  • Year 1 Visit to St. Johns Church

    Thu 19 May 2016

Year 1 had a wonderful afternoon learning about the features in a church. We began by finding out how did we know we were in a church. We then also found out who works at St Johns and what their roles are. We then looked at the clothes that people in the church wear and some lucky children tried them on!

We then sang a familiar song about Jesus and joined in with the actions. Each class then completed a series of activities. This included learning about Holy Communion and Baptism/Christening. We finished the afternoon sharing something we had learnt and then did a prayer.

Well done Year 1 on your wonderful behaviour and you showed respect to the church throughout our visit.

  • Reception Farm Trip

    Wed 18 May 2016

Yesterday all of the Reception pupils went on a trip to Stonehurst Farm. We all had a fantastic day and were so lucky with the beautiful weather!

When we arrived we had our snack and met all the farmers. They told us about their farm and gave us a tour of the grounds and we visited all the animals. We saw pigs, cows, sheep, chickens and lots more! Not forgetting Toby the turkey.

We had a ride in the Farmers tractor. It was was very bumpy!

We had to run up a very big hill. We were very tired when we got to the top.

After that we had a lovely lunch sat in the barn. After lunch we played on the park and had another walk around the farm grounds, finding lots of minibeasts.

After all that fun it was time to go back to school on the coach.

The children were all amazing and so well behaved. Well done Class 1, 2, 3 and 7! The grown ups are very proud of you.

  • Westfield Infant School say Happy Retirement to Malcolm!

    Mon 16 May 2016

Rev Malcolm Clarke has been coming into school to lead assemblies on a Monday for many years. However he has recently retired from his post at The United Reformed Church and we wanted to mark the occasion.

The children sang a song and we had three pupils as Rev Malcolm and three children as Mrs Clarke!

We presented Malcolm with a garden voucher, some gardening gloves and most importantly a Westfield Bear! We also know how important it is for a vicar to be supported by his wife so we presented our very own Mrs Clarke with an orchid that we hope she will enjoy displaying in her new home!

A big thank you to Malcolm for all the assemblies, the Bible Presentations, the Church tours, Mothering Sunday services and the Strawberries and Song evenings.

  • Visit from Mrs Guest and Aurora

    Fri 13 May 2016

We had a lovely surprise visit today from Aurora Rose and Mrs Guest. It was a bit like the game Pass the Parcel as Aurora was passed around for the staff to have a cuddle!

Mrs Guest had promised to visit every class so she had to make sure she did just that! Aurora seemed to enjoy her visit to Westfield Infant School and was certainly very much admired!
