  • Healthy School Week Day 1

    Mon 06 Feb 2017

Healthy School Week got off to an exciting and busy start today. School was open from 8.00 a.m. and a number of families started the day with breakfast at school.

This was followed by Family Reading in every class. This is an opportunity for adults to go to the classrooms with their children and join in with reading activities. Parents/Carers of Reception pupils were invited to look at the Learning Journeys and  Year 1 to share the Wow Work folders. This opportunity will continue every morning this week between 08.30 and 9.15 a.m.

The tables and chairs in the hall were quickly tidied away and Brian from FINS joined us and gave each class a 30 minute session of physical activities using ladders on the floor. All the children worked very hard to improve their skills during the session. A lot of children had been sponsored for this event or their parents/carers had made a donation.

Brian signed a form for every child and we now look forward to receiving the sponsor money/donation. This event is to raise money for LOROS and all the children who bring sponsor money or a donation into school will receive a certificate.

In every classroom the children have also being working on various activities to promote health for life. If you ask your child they should be able to tell you what an exciting day of learning they have had. The photographs might also help to remind them!

Tomorrow morning the Life Education Centre will be arriving. There will be an information session for parents/carers between 08.50 and 9.05 a.m. This is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about what your child will be learning during his/her visit to the Life Education Centre.

  • Year 1 Super Hero Day

    Fri 03 Feb 2017

    WHAM! THWACK! KAPOW!

What a fantastic day we have had pretending to be Super Heroes! All of the children in Year 1 made a fantastic effort with their costumes and looked amazing. We have had so much fun completing our Super Hero activities; Super Spelling, Heroic Phonics, Crafty Super Hero Puppets and Amazing Movement.

A big thank you to all the parents and carers for their efforts and help with the costumes. Please have a look through the photos to see all the fun we have had today.

P.S Don't forget it's Healthy School Week next week! It would be great to see you join us for breakfast each Morning from 8:00am onwards. Parents and carers can then come down to their child's classroom for reading activities and a look through their WOW Work folders!

  • Healthy Eating Show

    Thu 02 Feb 2017

What a wonderful way to build up to Healthy School Week! After taking a look inside Billy's body and understanding that he does not eat as healthy as he should, we learnt a lot about what the correct foods we should be eating are. Can you tell your grownups how many portions of fruit and vegetables we should be eating every day?

It was good to hear how much previous knowledge the children at Westfield already knew prior to Healthy School Week. We look forward to learning even more next week!

Don't forget you can join us for breakfast from 8am then reading in classrooms from 8.30am.

  • Class 2's Assembly; Chinese New Year

    Thu 02 Feb 2017

Well done to Class 2 and Class 7 inclusion for your first excellent assembly!! You performed fantastically with all the acting, speaking and dancing. It was a perfect reminder for everyone about the Chinese New Year story and traditions that take place across the festival.

Miss Ellis, Mrs Walsh, Mrs Flashman and Mr Thurman were so proud of all you getting up to perform to the rest of the school, the teachers and your grownups.
