    Mon 14 Mar 2016

On Friday all of Reception were treated to a football session. They learnt lots of new skills using a football.

They all really enjoyed it as you can see from the photos.

Luke will be doing an after school football club for Reception pupils starting on Wednesday 13th April at 3:15pm till 4:15pm.

If you would like to participate in these sessions make sure you return the form sent home with your child last week. Places are limited so it will be first come first serve. If you need a new form please go to the office.

Don't miss out on the fun!

  • Class 3 Assembly - Stickman

    Fri 11 Mar 2016

Today Class 3 treated us to an amazing assembly all about their Stickman trip to Beaumanor Hall.

We heard about the book written by Julia Donaldson and some children showed us their wonderful illustrations and told us some of the different things poor Stickman was used for.  A few children in Class 3 had been measuring their sticks and told us all about it and there were even some Class 3 family trees!

All of Class 3 sang their Stickman song beautifully and the assembly finished with a premier of Class 3's film telling us all their favourite parts of the trip.

What a fantastic assembly!  Well done Class 3!

What a fabulous afternoon Year 2 had when they visited Westfield Junior School today. Year 3 and 4 pupils invited us to see their truly spectacular exhibition showcasing their homework linked to their topic called the Blue Abyss. The Year 2 children were astounded at their hard work, effort and creative ways to show their learning. The written work and art work included facts, 3d models and sculptures, mobiles and under the ocean sea-scapes which even lit up!

  • Stick Man Class1

    Tue 08 Mar 2016

Today we went on our Stick Man and what a great time we had!

We visited Stick Man's house and climbed all over the branches, we loved doing this and some children got really high!

We all found a stick and used in lots of ways just like Stick Man was in the story. We used it to draw things in the sand, as a bow and arrow, threw it to see how far it would go and as a bat to hit a ball.

In the Afternoon we went on a journey through the woods to see what we could find. We found the Gruffalo's cave, we had a paddle in the stream, played pooh sticks over the bridge, explored some old fallen down trees and we ran up and down lots of hills!

The children got a little bit muddy (sorry grown-ups) but we all had so much fun. Some children were very sleepy on the coach on the way home.

Well done to all the children on the trip you were all so well behaved and the grown ups were so impressed :)

  • Mothers Day Service at United Reform Church

    Mon 07 Mar 2016

Today the choir sang at the United Reform Church as part of their Mothers Day Service.

It was great to see so many Westfield families on a Sunday.  The choir were absolutely fantastic and sang two songs.  Don't Forget (to tell your mum you love her) and Mrs MacLauchlans favourite song Yellow Daffodils.  The children then gave out daffodils to all the ladies in the congregation.

All money from the offertory was split between Pondicherry and the United Reform Church charity in Madagascar.

After the service the choir enjoyed biscuits and a drink and then made a bead heart to give to their grown up.

Thank you to everyone who came and made this a very special morning.   Special thanks to Malcolm for inviting us.

  • Clean for the Queen

    Fri 04 Mar 2016

Today we joined in with the national initiative Clean for the Queen to celebrate her 90th birthday.

All children learnt a song and sang it in assembly.  After we got on our aprons and gloves and went out to make our school tidy.  We washed the railings, swept the floor, picked up litter and cleaned our outside toys.

Everyone worked together really well including the grown-ups (and Rowland) to help clean up ready for the Queens birthday.
