  • Remembrance Assembly

    Mon 12 Nov 2018

Gary and Amy from St. John’s led our special Remembrance whole school Assembly this morning.

They asked us some questions to find out about our learning over the past two weeks to commemorate the centenary armistice and wanted to know why we were all wearing a poppy. Why is the poppy special?

Our class ceramic poppies were beautifully displayed at the front and they thanked us for contributing to the HOPE in Silence Exhibition over the weekend. As a mark of respect and thankfulness to those that had lost their lives in the Great World Wars and others happening around the world today all staff, pupils and parents/carers stood for our two minutes silence.

  • Class 9 Assembly - Remembrance Day

    Thu 08 Nov 2018

Today Class 9 talked to us about Remembrance Day.  They explained why on November 11 at 11.00am we have 2 minutes silence to remember the end of World War 1 and how every Remembrance Day is a day to remember all the people who have fought and been injured in wars.

They told us lots of interesting facts and their reading was excellent.  Well done Class 9.

The back of the stage had been decorated with a painting of the Cenotaph and Class 9 invited all the classes to leave a wreath at the base.  The wreaths look wonderful and all very different.

Class 9 then presented Mrs Berry with the pottery poppies that some children have made for the exhibition at St Johns Church.

They finished by singing a song about Remembrance Day.

    Well done Class 9

  • Class 8 Assembly - Diwali

    Thu 01 Nov 2018

Today Class 8 told us the story of Rama and Sita.  They performed an amazing play, with some fantastic narration.  The assembly finished with a song, sung beautifully, about Diwali.

People remember the story of Rama and Sita when they celebrate Diwali with fireworks and special candles called Divas.  This is to represent light over darkness and good over evil.  This year Diwali will begin on November 7th
