  • Year 1 Father's Day Event

    Thu 18 Jun 2015

After school, Year 1 children celebrated Father's Day with lots of exciting activities. Challenges included building a den using a range of natural materials. Dens were put to the test due to unforeseen 'rain' leaving a few members rather wet! Another challenge was to save Robin Hood's Merry Men using archery skills. The final challenge was based on trust as children and adults were led around the blind trail.

All adults and children had a fantastic time and enjoyed a hot dog and drink at the end.

Thank you to all those able to attend!

  • Year 1 Trip to The United Reform Church

    Thu 11 Jun 2015

This afternoon Year 1 children visited The United Reform Church in Hinckley. The children enjoyed the walk to the Church in the lovely, sunny weather and were welcomed by Rev. Malcolm Clarke. Malcolm told us about the history of the building and the types of things you find in churches.

Can you remember the name of the special table at the front of the church?

Can you remember what they fitted to the windows during the war?

We were amazed to find out that the organ had over 2000 pipes! After learning all about the Church we got to have a look around and we saw all of the old pews upstairs on the balcony. We all enjoyed coming down the spiral staircase!

A big thank you to Rev. Malcolm Clarke and Mrs Clarke for showing us the Church and telling us lots of interesting facts.

Also a big well done to all the Year 1 pupils for fantastic behaviour.

Year 1 Assembly took everyone around the world, starting in Hinckley and Stoke Golding and going to London and finishing in Brazil. The children had a fun time showing parents/carers what they had been learning last half term through dance, music, poems and songs. Pupils had the opportunity to share the homework they had completed about London monuments. The assembly finished with a Carnival parade through the hall. Thank you to all those who were able to attend. If you weren't able to make it, please feel free to pop in and look through your child's Wow Work folder any day after school.
