  • Christmas Singing at the Community Centre

Wed 17 Dec 2014 Mrs Dakin
Year 2 pupils made all the teachers feel very proud with their wonderful singing at the Westfield Community Centre today. They sang a collection of songs from the Year 1/Year 2 Christmas Play to the Westfield Age Concern group. This was followed by the traditional Jingle Bells and We Wish You A Merry Christmas which everyone was able to join in with. As usual the ladies and gentlemen helped out with jingling the bells! David Roberts from the Community Centre thanked Westfield Infant School for their generous contribution raised during our Harvest Festival to help fund the Christmas Dinner. Well done Year 2
  • Year 1 and 2 Christmas Party

Tue 16 Dec 2014 Mrs Dakin
Year 1 and Year 2 pupils had a wonderful time at their Christmas Party. All the children played some traditional party games in the hall to start. These including pass the parcel, stations and musical statues. Which was your favourite game? There was some super dancing and the children were so good at musical statues we had to make it even harder by asking them to stand on one leg! We had a very special visitor - YES, SANTA with Mrs Claus! We sang some songs to him and he gave each class a very large present! Back in the classrooms we had our party food. Thank you for all generous donations of food and drink. Santa visited each class with his special messages and the children had lovely manners thanking him and wishing him a very Merry Christmas.

  • Kids UK School Experience with Andi, Grandad and Jack

    Tue 16 Dec 2014

What a great assembly we had this morning. Andi came with his friends Grandad and Jack. Grandad was feeling frustrated that Jack didn't know the reasons for celebrating Christmas. So Andi with help from all the Westfield children, helped tell the story of the birth of Baby Jesus to Jack. It was great fun with lots of giggles. The children behaved brilliantly under Andi's instructions - 'straight backs and cheesy grins!!'

Children can you tell the Christmas story to your grown ups?

Who came to see Mary to tell her she was going to have a baby?

Why did Mary and Joseph have to go to Bethlehem and how did they get there?

Where was baby Jesus born and why there?

Who came to visit the special baby and what gifts did they bring?

  • Visit from Hinckley Carnival Queen

    Tue 16 Dec 2014

During assembly today we were very pleased to welcome Danielle who is the Hinckley Carnival Queen! Danielle came for a very special reason!

The Carnival Committee had agreed to fund some special equipment for the children  in class 7 to use and Danielle came to officially present it to the children.

As you can see from the photographs Mrs Hone and Mrs Lunn showed everyone how the new equipment can help the children with their  learning and Danielle spent time in class 7 watching the children using the new equipment.

The whole school enjoyed meeting Danielle and they asked her some very special questions about what it is like to be the Carnival Queen. They also presented her with a card as a Thank You!

The children and staff from Class 7 would like to say a big thank you to the Carnival Committee for the generous donation that enabled us to buy the new equipment.

  • Christmas shopping with our sponsor students Shilpa and Preetha in India

    Mon 15 Dec 2014

As you can see from the photographs Mrs Guest and Miss Hamilton were able to go shopping with the Westfield Sponsor students. Having met the girls last year Mrs MacLauchlan and Mrs Leeson realised that the girls have very little storage space.

So this year rather than send presents the two Westfield Schools sent some chocolate (everyone in India loves it) and some money so that the girls could go shopping and choose some new things.

Sister Rose looked after everyone and made sure suitable purchases were made for a fair price! We will hear more details about the shopping trip when Mrs Guest and Miss Hamilton return.

  • India Part 1

    Mon 15 Dec 2014

If you look at the photographs posted today you will see the surface of the playground that we are raising money to improve. You can see how dusty it is and just imagine what it is like when it rains!!

You can also see Mrs Guest and Miss Hamilton introducing the children to Circletime and teaching the children during a letters and sounds lesson.

Mrs MacLauchlan was pleased to see the children still plenty on the toys in the crèche!

  • WE HAVE FOUND THEM!!!!
