Harvest Festival Assembly

This morning we held our Harvest Assembly for Year 1 and 2 pupils. We were joined by a lot of visitors including representatives from the Westfield Branch of Age Concern.

As you can see from the photographs the children came to school with a wonderful selection of  fresh fruit and vegetables, tins, packets and other  donations. The harvest display soon filled up and looked very colourful.

The assembly started with Year 2 telling everyone about the Send a Cow charity. We also saw some photographs of how this charity works. Every class had collected coins in a bottle and all this money will be used to help the Send a Cow charity to provide a family with a cow which will help them in many different ways.

The whole school sang the Fair Trade Song and this was followed by a play performed by year 2 based on the Handa's Surprise story. This included a dance and some musicians who played the drums. We then sang the song called Five a Day.

Year 1 then recited a poem which was followed by the first performance this year by the school choir. The choir sang a Harvest Song and did very well because they had needed to learn a lot of words!

A group of Year 1 pupils then took the lead in a Harvest Prayer and the assembly ended with everyone singing the Harvest Hymn Give Thanks for the Harvest.

A group of WISA members then sorted all the harvest produce ready for the sale that will take place this afternoon. Thank you to all parents/carers and friends of the school for your support. We look forward to seeing you at the Harvest Sale and raffle this afternoon!
