Harvest Assembly - Year 1 and 2

This morning the hall was full of children bringing gifts for the Harvest Assembly and the Harvest Table was soon looking very colourful.

Thank you to everyone who sent gifts in and thanks to those who have already purchased raffle tickets.

The Harvest Assembly was well attended by parents/carers of Year 1 and 2 pupils. We started the assembly by singing Big Red Combine Harvester which is a favourite and we were helped to remember the actions by a group of Year 2 pupils.

A group of Year 2 pupils then performed a play called The Cherokee People and we enjoyed seeing the children act it out as well as dancing and using musical instruments.

Both Year 1 and 2 then sang Five a day to remind us all about the importance of remembering to eat Five portions of fruit and vegetables every day.

This was followed by Year 1 reciting a poem which they had all been learning. The poem contained some very important messages and Year 1 did a brilliant job of keeping together.

Year 2 pupils read a prayer and the assembly ended with everyone singing Thank You God for the Harvest.

Volunteers are now helping to sort all the donated items and make up hampers and prizes for the raffle.

This afternoon the Reception Parents/Carers have been invited into the classes for Harvest Activities from 1.30 p.m. and we will be holding our Harvest Sale and Raffle to which everyone is invited. Tea, Coffee and cakes will also be available. The sale will start at 2.30 p.m. and the raffle will be drawn between 3.15 - 3.30 p.m. (we need to try and sell all the produce first). Raffle tickets will be available during the Harvest Sale.

All the money raised will provide a lovely Christmas Meal for members of Westfield Branch of Age Concern and will also help to fund the special transport some of the members need to get to the Community Centre. On the day of the meal Year 2 will be going over to the Community Centre to sing to the members.
