Commonwealth Day 2019

Today the pupils learned about the Commonwealth, including what it is and who is part of it. Pupils found out that this year marks an anniversary. Can you remember how many years the modern Commonwealth has existed?

The pupils completed activities to support their understanding of the importance of the Commonwealth, including their values and the opportunities for sportsmen and sportswomen to participate in the Commonwealth Games.

You could carry out some research to remind yourselves of the values that each of the Commonwealth countries holds - many are very similar to our British Values!

Can you remember when and where the next Commonwealth Games will be held?

Pupils found out that Queen Elizabeth II is the head of the Commonwealth at present and towards the end of the day, pupils were able to start watching the special celebration service held in London. Can you remember any important people you spotted arriving at the service?
