Odd Socks Day!

Today we have been celebrating odd socks day! This has been a really fun start to anti bullying week. The theme this year is One Kind Word. We have enjoyed joining in with and dancing to the song by CBeebies star Andy Day and his band Andy and the Odd Socks!

We have loved looking at each other's odd socks and have realised that we can celebrate uniqueness whilst all being in the drive for kindness together.

Below is the anti-bullying alliance's call to action and we have been thinking about what this means and how we can put it in to action:

- Ask if someone’s OK. Say you’re sorry. Just say hey.

- In a world that can sometimes feel like it’s filled with negativity, one kind word can provide a moment of hope. It can be a turning point. It can change someone’s perspective. It can change their day. It can change the course of a conversation and break the cycle of bullying.

- Best of all, one kind word leads to another. Kindness fuels kindness. So from the playground to Parliament, and from our phones to our homes, together, our actions can fire a chain reaction that powers positivity.

- It starts with one kind word. It starts today.

During the afternoon we had our 'Friendship Afternoon' where we mixed with other classes within our year groups to create new friendships. We have enjoyed lots of different activities such as creating odd socks colourings, making friendships bracelets for others drawing kind hands and filling them with kind words, playing games, kindness jars....as well as completing classroom kindness pledges that we will display all year!
