Safeguarding Team

At Westfield Infant School we regard safeguarding and the welfare of all our pupils and staff as the first and utmost priority. All staff and visitors are expected to follow our policies and procedures for safeguarding and child protection and any concerns are managed by specially trained members of staff. Please see below our school designated safeguarding team.

Designated Safeguarding Lead - Mrs Jennifer Ruane (Headteacher)

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead - Mrs Katy Chuter (Deputy Headteacher)

Designated Safeguarding Officers - Mrs Zoe Knight (Family Link Officer), Mr Billy James, Mrs Claire Mottram & Mrs Kelly Pegg

Teachers are asked to report any causes for concern to the School Safeguarding Lead using a written proforma. Any concerns will be shared with parents as early as possible, as more often than not there are extremely reasonable explanations for the concern. Concerns may range from children being visibly upset, persistent lateness to children ‘disclosing’ concerns.

ALL OUR STAFF HAVE COMPLETED TRAINING FOR SAFEGUARDING.

Operation Encompass

We are also an Operation Encompass School and all DSLs have completed Operation Encompass training.

Operation Encompass is a national initiative that helps schools support children who may have been affected by domestic abuse. When the police attend a domestic abuse incident involving a child, they inform the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead before the next school day. This early, confidential sharing of information enables the school to provide sensitive, timely support to the child, helping them feel safe and cared for during what may be a difficult time.
